This brand-new ministry packed its first backpacks on Wednesday, Sept 8th and they were delivered to the children to go home Friday, Sept. 10th.
Our current plan is to send five backpacks to Parkview Elementary every week. Each backpack is packed with enough food to feed three children 3 meals on Saturday and 3 meals on Sunday. The backpacks come back to the school on Monday, are picked up and brought back to the church, repacked on Wednesday and then go back to the school. The back packs rotate among different families so that more children can benefit over a months time.
Our estimate is that it costs $18 per backpack per weekend for food.
Current Needs:
Milk (powder, dry or in a carton that has a good shelf life) is needed all the time to help supply those children who receive a backpack. When grocery shopping next time, please consider purchasing this type of milk to donate to this wonderful ministry. You can drop off your donation at the church office.
